About Blue Phoenix
Blue Phoenix’s mission is to facilitate better investment decision-making. Better for the economy, the environment, and society. Better today, tomorrow, at the end of the century and beyond.
With the rise in the availability of types of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data through corporate reporting, rating, and data agencies, the need for a translator between the stakeholders in the investment value chain increases. Doing that is at the core of Blue Phoenix’s business.
Investors are guided through the sustainable finance maze: selecting the right ESG data provider, integrating ESG into the investment process, and more.
Rating agencies and other parties looking to create or optimize their ESG data collection and evaluation process get a best-in-class rating experience by engaging Blue Phoenix.
For companies, a range of investor reporting services is available. Helping the company understand what the expectation of the investor, or the rating agency as a middleman, is and translating that into investment relevant ESG reporting.
Amara Goeree
As the founder of Blue Phoenix, Amara supports clients with rich ESG value chain experience. She has spent the majority of her career leading the Dow Jones Sustainability Index rating process at RobecoSAM (now SAM, part of S&P Global). More recently, she fulfilled the role of Head Corporate Sustainability and Responsible Investment at Julius Baer. She also has created an ESG rating methodology for private market investments, has academic research experience, and worked in corporate sustainability in a listed real estate company.
Between those roles, she has prepared the corporate reporting to rating agencies and investors, she has been the rating agency, the investor and the translator between all the stakeholders. Covering the full ESG data value chain.
As a child, Amara wanted to be a schoolteacher. When she was a teenager, this ambition changed to French teacher, loving the language and liking the idea of helping groups of people communicate with one another. Then, she realized that since she also really enjoyed the subjects of math, business and economics she should give a business degree a go. She could always become a teacher later in life. Now, she firmly believes that ‘being a teacher’ is a concept rather than a profession alone. She’s of the opinion that one can be a teacher in many ways: managing people, introducing new management topics, advising companies and investors.
Through Blue Phoenix, she intends to do just that: be a teacher and translator in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data, processes, and strategies.
Amara is Dutch, with a permanent residency in Zurich, Switzerland. She speaks fluent Dutch and English, and has business proficiency in (Swiss) German. Unfortunately, she has lost most of her active French vocabulary.
